Snorkelling is a must do for anyone staying on Ataúro and while some accommodation places rent snorkel gear it is recommended that you bring your own set if available. Once will not be enough.  There is wonderful and readily accessible snorkeling sites on both sides of the Island, usually requiring only a short boat ride or swim from the beach.   On the more protected eastern reefs the incredible diversity of coral and fish species is quite overwhelming. On the more isolated west coast, the spectacular drop-offs and clarity of the water offers an amazing snorkeling experience.

Note: Most diving companies will take snorkelers on trips.
