Grupu Sole Tete ro Tihak is an organized group of traditional dancers and singers from the sub-village of Fatulela, Suco Makili, Ataúro island. The group consists of both men and women divided into singers and dancers. They sing ancestors songs that are specific to their clan’s ritual events (Tolan Natin), such as begging for rain ahead of the rainy season, appreciating nature for crop harvesting and fishing, and welcoming guests into their village. While the group of singers– Relala, Soupat-soupat, Sose and Rekai–use their beautiful voices, they are accompanied by traditional dancers and musical instruments like the Babadok. The group preserves the traditional culture of Makili village, and only perform on specific events or during the visits of distinguished guests.
