With most of the popular destinations on the east side of the island, Arlo and the rest of the west coast offer something completely unique: a chance to bask in the glory of a perfect Ataúro afternoon and the sun dipping into the sea. Of all these few golden hour locales, there is practically no better place to catch it than in the hills of Arlo, sipping on a coconut, and hearing the melodic chorus of rare birds welcoming you to their home as they fly overhead. It is a place where either direction you come from, either from the long walk up the rocks from Adara or the forested area from Beloi, you can’t help but take a step back and be captivated by the beauty that surrounds you.
To get there: You will pass through Arlo if you’re on your way either to or from Adara. It is not advised to undertake this route in darkness, so ideally either early morning or late afternoon so it is not as hot.
