Established in 2000, Dive Timor Lorosae offers PADI-accredited dive courses from introductory to dive instructor level and day diving trips on the beautiful coral reefs that surround Ataúro.
Timor-Leste / East Timor is a young country with vast untouched reefs and a refreshingly quiet number of divers. With constant upwellings from the deep channel found just offshore, there are continuous nutrients provided to the reef. Coral reefs here have stayed strong and healthy with almost no impact from coral bleaching that affects other areas of Southeast Asia. Timor-Leste offers you one of the most bio-diverse reefs in the world full of coral and fish species that fill your eyes with beauty, keeping you amazed with each dive.
We have a range of sites, with muck dives, great walls and some underwater pinnacles, providing a diverse range of wildlife from Nudibranchs, frogfish and seahorse to schooling fish, turtles, reef sharks and if you are lucky enough maybe an eagle ray or dugong.
You can also enjoy whale watching during the fall season as recent scientific studies discovered that Timor-Leste has the healthiest population of Pygmy Blue Whales, in addition to 41 other species of cetaceans passing through these waters.
We have highly qualified staff and dive gear in perfect conditions, being constantly serviced by our own qualified technicians.
Since the beginning DTL has tried to promote sustainable tourism as an alternative income to this country: educating our local staff is very important to us and whenever possible we take them diving so they are aware of the beauty that exists in their country. We aim to make what difference we can in this country through diving. We were the first to dive and explore Ataúro Island and many of the north coast sites (near Dili). DTL also offers several types of accommodations available in Dili.
